Staffordshire University data centre transformation

Staffordshire University logo.jpg

Based in the midlands, Staffordshire University champions innovation and is one of the top universities in the UK for computing and digital technology. In order to continue building on this pedigree, the university identified that it would need a new technology strategy moving forward.

Having worked with the university for over six years as their critical environment partner, Keysource has an in depth understanding of the university’s requirements. As part of this project, the university was looking to migrate the majority of its IT services to the cloud and focused on two of the university’s onsite critical environments and included on-site disaster recovery.

In order to facilitate the new technology strategy, Keysource was tasked with completing a strategic review of the university’s data centre estate, proposal development and evaluation and pre-construction services.

Project Highlights

  • A strategic review of the University’s data centre estate, including identifying risks and providing a gap analysis against best practice and the necessary connectivity to the cloud

  • Development of design options and plans for the upgrade works required, as well as the tender pack and cost plan

  • Due to the highly critical nature of the site, the designs and programme of works were developed to minimise disruption and mitigate any potential risks

“Keysource has provided us with excellent advice throughout the past six years, as we update our IT strategy we are confident that Keysource will continue this, supporting us to implement a best-in-class solution for the University.”

— Howard Whiteley, Interim Director of Digital Transformation, Staffordshire University
